A network admin watching this counter climb steadily is seeing normal login traffic, while a flat or unexpectedly low value during a known login surge suggests the switch isn't even attempting to reach any TACACS+ server. For example, if 200 admins badge into the network each morning, this counter should jump by roughly 200 shortly after 9am.
