Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: This MIB object shows the total number of remote MEPs.

What is cienaCesCfmServiceNumRemoteMEP?

This Counter32 reports the total number of remote MEPs known to this CFM service, i.e., far-end monitoring endpoints this service has learned or been configured to expect, distinct from the count of local MEPs. An admin uses this to verify remote-MEP discovery or configuration has actually populated the expected far-end peers before relying on continuity-check results, since a service showing zero remote MEPs can never generate a meaningful failure or OK indication for those peers. For example, a multipoint service expecting five remote sites but showing cienaCesCfmServiceNumRemoteMEP = 3 would tell the admin that two remote MEPs haven't been discovered or configured yet.
