Module: CIENA-CES-CFM-MIB

OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-CFM-MIB::cienaCesCfmServiceLMMInterval

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.1.4.1.2.1.1.23

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This MIB object indicates the LMM transmission interval index for the service specified by cienaCesCfmServiceType.

This determines the frequency at which LMMs are transmitted. The length of the interval increases exponentially

with the index value. The value ranges from 1 to 7. The values 1-7 represent indices to CFM intervals as follows: 1 --> 3.33ms, 2 --> 10ms, 3 --> 100ms, 4 --> 1sec, 5 --> 10sec, 6 --> 1min, 7 --> 10min.

What is cienaCesCfmServiceLMMInterval?

Although its own DESCRIPTION is empty, the object's name (LMM = Loss Measurement Message, per Y.1731) and INTEGER syntax indicate it configures the transmission interval for loss-measurement probes used to track frame loss for this service on an ongoing basis, separate from the one-shot benchmark tests elsewhere in the MIB suite. An admin would tune this to control how often loss samples are collected for continuous SLA loss monitoring, balancing measurement granularity against the extra LMM traffic overhead it generates on the service. For example, a carrier monitoring loss on a premium SLA-bound EVC would likely configure a shorter cienaCesCfmServiceLMMInterval than on a best-effort service, to catch loss excursions sooner.
