Description: This MIB object identifies the CCM transmission interval index for the service specified by cienaCesCfmServiceType.
This determines the frequency at which CCMs are transmitted. The length of the interval increases exponentially
with the index value. When the interval is zero (0), CCM transmission is disabled from all MEPs in the MA.
What is cienaCesCfmServiceCCMInterval?
This selects the Continuity Check Message transmission interval for the service by index (from 'unknown' through progressively longer indexed intervals like 4ms, 10ms, 100ms, 1sec, and beyond), where the actual time between CCMs grows exponentially as the index increases, and setting it to 0 disables CCM transmission from every MEP in the maintenance association entirely. An admin picks a faster interval (lower index) for services needing rapid fault detection at the cost of more control-plane overhead, and a slower one for less critical services to save bandwidth. For example, cienaCesCfmServiceCCMInterval = 1 (the 4ms interval) would be chosen for a service requiring sub-50ms fault detection typical of carrier-grade Ethernet protection switching, while setting it to 0 would silently stop all continuity checking for that service.
