For example, if cienaCesCfmServiceCrossConnectErrorFlag has fired on the service, checking cienaCesCfmRemoteMEPMacAddr for the affected remote MEP gives the admin a specific MAC address to search for in switch forwarding tables to trace where the cross-connected traffic is actually coming from.
