This reports the type of logical interface (chosen from a long list including virtual switch, PBT service, and several MPLS pseudowire variants like static/dynamic mesh or spoke VCs) on which this MEP is created, establishing exactly what kind of underlying transport construct the MEP is actually monitoring. An admin needs this to correctly interpret the companion LiIndex value, since the same numeric index means a completely different underlying object depending on which logical interface type it's paired with. For example, cienaCesCfmMEPLiType = mplsDynamicPeSpokeVC would tell the admin this MEP is monitoring a dynamically signaled MPLS spoke pseudowire, a fundamentally different transport mechanism than if the type instead read pbtService for a PBB-TE-based service.
