What is cienaCesCfmGlobalFrameBudgetSlot8?
This counter tracks how much of its allotted CFM frame-processing budget line-card slot 8 has consumed, since the MIB simply labels it as the 'Frame Budget' for that specific slot. Ciena CES platforms cap the number of CFM control frames (CCM, LBM, LTM, etc.) a given slot's CPU can generate or process so a storm of maintenance-association traffic on one card can't starve that slot's forwarding engine, so this value tells an admin whether slot 8 specifically is running close to that ceiling. If this counter reads 4,800 out of a 5,000-frame budget while slot 9 and slot 10 sit near zero, that asymmetry points to slot 8 hosting an unusually large number of active MEPs that may need rebalancing.
