Module: CIENA-CES-BENCHMARK-MIB

OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-BENCHMARK-MIB::cienaCesBenchmarkGenTestSessionThroughputResultsAvg

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.1.39.1.1.15.1.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: CienaCesBenchmarkThroughputResult

Access: read-only

Description: Average throughput recorded for the given packet size in Mbps * 100. The value is multiplied by 100 to be able to send the results as an integer but should be divided by 100 when displayed to provide a 2 decimal point accuracy. A result of 123.45 is sent as 12345.

What is cienaCesBenchmarkGenTestSessionThroughputResultsAvg?

This is the average throughput measured across all iterations run at this frame size, using the same Mbps*100 encoding as the min and max fields (so 12345 means 123.45 Mbps). An admin looks at how close the average sits to the maximum to judge test consistency: if avg and max are nearly equal the link performed steadily, whereas a much lower average than max signals intermittent degradation between iterations rather than a single bad run. For example, a max of 95000 but an avg of only 70000 would tell the engineer that throughput at this frame size is unstable across repeated iterations rather than reliably near-line-rate.
