Description: Covers chassis hardware management for Benu Networks broadband gateways, including card inventory and power module status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BENU-CHASSIS-MIB?

BENU-CHASSIS-MIB is a Benu Networks enterprise MIB for managing the chassis hardware of Benu's broadband gateway platforms, tracking chassis identity and slot/card inventory. It exposes hardware-focused data: chassis type and hardware version, number of slots, per-card inventory via benuCardTable/benuCardEntry (indexed by benuCardIndex, giving benuCardType), and trap-enable flags for power, fan, and sensor alarms. This MIB is squarely aimed at monitoring hardware health — chassis identity, card presence/type, power supply and fan alarm status, and sensor (e.g., temperature) alarm status — plus benuSysUpTimeAtLastChassisChange to correlate chassis events with system uptime. It defines its own notification objects (benuChassisNotifObjects/Variables) rather than leaning on external standard MIBs, though it likely coexists with ENTITY-MIB-style physical inventory conventions. It is deployed on Benu Networks broadband gateway chassis used by service providers for BNG/subscriber management functions. Engineers can download the BENU-CHASSIS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BENU-CHASSIS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Benu Networks broadband gateway (BNG) chassis

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll benuCardTable/benuCardEntry, keyed by benuCardIndex, to confirm each slot's benuCardType matches the expected line card and detect unexpected card removal or insertion. Enabling benuChassisPowerTrapEnable, benuChassisFanTrapEnable, and benuChassisSensorTrapEnable lets the chassis send traps if a power module fails, a fan stops, or a temperature sensor exceeds threshold. Checking benuSysUpTimeAtLastChassisChange alongside chassis notifications helps correlate an alarm with a specific hardware change event, such as a card swap.

What Can Be Monitored

  • chassis type/hardware version
  • card inventory and card type per slot
  • power supply alarm status
  • fan alarm status
  • temperature/sensor alarm status
  • uptime at last chassis change
