atmfCESBufOverflows

Module: ATMF-CES

OID (symbolic): ATMF-CES::atmfCESBufOverflows

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.353.5.2.2.1.3.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description:

Number of buffer overflows. This records the count of the number of times the CES reassembly buffer overflows. If the CES IWF is implemented with multiple buffers (such as a cell level buffer and a bit level buffer, then either buffer overflow will cause this count to be incremented

What is atmfCESBufOverflows?

This counter measures the number of times a buffer overflow occurred in the CES (Circuit Emulation Service) reassembly function, which converts ATM cells back into continuous bit streams for emulating legacy circuit connections. A rising counter indicates that data is arriving faster than the system can process it, causing loss of traffic or synchronization issues. Operators monitor this to detect congestion or capacity problems in the ATM-to-circuit conversion pathway.
