Category: Vendor: Allied Telesis

Description: Manages load balancing policy, server pool health, and traffic distribution statistics on Allied Telesis load-balancing devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AT-LB-MIB?

AT-LB-MIB is a private Allied Telesis MIB for the load-balancing (LB) module found on Allied Telesis load-balancing appliances or switch modules, covering global load-balancing policy, resource-pool health, and virtual-balancer/server statistics. It exposes both configuration data (affinity/orphan timeouts, critical-reset behavior) and live operational counters such as current connection counts and resource pool totals. Its monitoring value is in tracking service/software-level health of the load-balancing function: current active connections, number of configured resource pools and virtual balancers, and timeout settings that affect session persistence, rather than physical hardware sensors. No specific external MIB dependency is evident beyond standard SNMP/SMI conventions used across Allied Telesis private MIBs. It is typically deployed on Allied Telesis load-balancing switches or appliances providing server-load-balancing (SLB) services in front of application server farms. Engineers can download the AT-LB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AT-LB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Allied Telesis load-balancing switch/appliance

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll lbShowGlobalTable/lbShowGlobalEntry, indexed by lbGlobalIndex, to read lbCurrentConnections alongside lbTotalResources, lbTotalResPools, and lbTotalVirtBals, giving a real-time view of load across the balancing service. A sudden spike in lbCurrentConnections without a corresponding increase in available resource pools could indicate the balancer is nearing capacity. lbAffinityTimeOut and lbOrphanTimeOut would be checked when troubleshooting session persistence or premature connection drops, and lbCriticalRst indicates whether the balancer is configured to send resets on critical resource exhaustion. Per-resource detail would be read from lbShowResTable/lbShowResEntry.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current active connections
  • total resource pools and virtual balancers
  • affinity/orphan session timeouts
  • critical-reset behavior
  • per-resource pool status
