Last Updated: 2007-08-08

Category: VLAN and Bridging, Vendor: Allied Telesis

Description: Manages IGMP snooping and proxy configuration, group membership tables, and multicast forwarding on Allied Telesis switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AT-IGMP-MIB?

AT-IGMP-MIB is Allied Telesis's private MIB for managing IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) snooping and proxy functionality on their switches. It exposes interface-level configuration such as query timeout and proxy mode, along with statistics tables tracking IGMP protocol message counts (queries, v1/v2 reports, leaves) per interface. Its monitoring value centers on software/protocol-state visibility rather than hardware sensors - administrators use it to confirm multicast group membership behavior and diagnose issues like excessive IGMP leave/join churn or snooping misconfiguration causing multicast flooding. It builds on the standard IGMP protocol concepts but is an Allied Telesis enterprise extension rather than a direct implementation of a published IETF IGMP MIB. It is deployed in Layer 2/Layer 3 network environments running IPTV or other multicast applications over Allied Telesis switches, and administrators who want to inspect these objects directly can download the AT-IGMP-MIB file to load into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AT-IGMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Allied Telesis switch/router

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll igmpIntStatsTable/igmpIntStatsEntry to check igmpInQuery, igmpInReportV1, igmpInReportV2, and igmpInLeave counts on a per-interface basis via igmpInterfaceTable/igmpInterfaceEntry. A sudden spike in igmpInLeave events or a stalled igmpInQuery count would indicate multicast group churn or a failed IGMP querier, both of which can disrupt multicast video/IPTV delivery. Checking igmpQueryTimeout and igmpSnooping settings alongside these counters helps confirm whether the observed behavior stems from misconfiguration rather than a network fault.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IGMP query timeout setting
  • IGMP proxy mode status
  • IGMP query message count
  • IGMPv1/v2 report counts
  • IGMP leave message count
  • per-interface multicast group membership
