Description: Aruba wired switch ArubaOS-CX distributed services and network function configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ARUBAWIRED-DIST-SERVICES-MIB?
This is an HPE Aruba proprietary MIB for ArubaOS-CX wired switches that manages Distributed Services Modules (DSM) — pluggable service modules and their associated interfaces on the switch chassis. It exposes hardware inventory data (module name, description, serial number, product number, physical address) and operational status for each DSM, plus interface-level associations for the module's Distributed Services System (DSS) interfaces. Its core monitoring value is hardware status: it lets an administrator confirm a distributed services module is physically present and correctly identified (serial/product number) and check arubaWiredDSMOperStatus to see whether the module is operationally up, which is essential for detecting a failed or removed service module before it causes an outage. It is switch-chassis-specific and works alongside other Aruba wired hardware MIBs (module, fan) that together describe the physical state of the switch. It is deployed on modular ArubaOS-CX switches in enterprise/data center networks that use pluggable distributed services modules, where ARUBAWIRED-DIST-SERVICES-MIB SNMP monitoring gives administrators early warning of module failures.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARUBAWIRED-DIST-SERVICES-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Aruba ArubaOS-CX wired switch (modular chassis)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll arubaWiredDSMStatusTable (indexed by module) to read arubaWiredDSMName, arubaWiredDSMSerialNum, and arubaWiredDSMOperStatus for each installed distributed services module, and cross-reference arubaWiredDSSIfTable for the module's associated interfaces. If arubaWiredDSMOperStatus reports down for a module whose interfaces are also inactive in arubaWiredDSSInterfaces, that indicates the module has failed or been removed and needs replacement.
What Can Be Monitored
- distributed services module inventory (serial/product number)
- module operational status
- module-associated interface status
