Description: Alvarion wireless device connection limiting MIB for managing maximum concurrent subscriber session policies.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ALVARION-CONNECTION-LIMITING-MIB?

ALVARION-CONNECTION-LIMITING-MIB is a small vendor enterprise MIB from Alvarion for configuring maximum concurrent connection limits on wireless access equipment, at both the per-user and system-wide levels. It exposes just two core configuration objects: a maximum connections-per-user limit and a maximum total system connections limit, under a config/info object structure with an associated notification prefix for related traps. Its monitoring value is software/configuration-state health: confirming the device is configured with sane connection ceilings to prevent resource exhaustion, and (via its notification objects) being alerted if connection limits are being approached or breached. It is a minimal, self-contained enterprise MIB without dependency on other standard MIBs. It is deployed on Alvarion wireless base stations and subscriber-facing equipment to protect against connection-table exhaustion from excessive subscriber sessions, and administrators can download the ALVARION-CONNECTION-LIMITING-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser when configuring these limits.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALVARION-CONNECTION-LIMITING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alvarion wireless base station/subscriber unit

Monitoring Examples

An operator checks connectionLimitingMaximumUserConnections and connectionLimitingMaximumSystemConnections to confirm the configured ceilings match capacity planning assumptions for the device. If subscribers report being unable to connect during peak hours, comparing actual connection counts (from other MIBs) against these configured maximums could reveal the system limit has been reached. Traps defined under alvarionConnectionLimitingMIBNotifications would alert an operator in real time if a limit is approached.

What Can Be Monitored

  • maximum connections per user
  • maximum total system connections
  • connection-limit threshold notifications
