Description: IBM AIX SNMP MIB for Integrated Routing and Bridging (IRB) interface statistics and configuration on AIX hosts.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AIXIRB-MIB?

This MIB module is IBM's AIX extension MIB covering Integrated Routing and Bridging (IRB), TCP tuning options, and legacy WAN link (X.25/BX.25) statistics on AIX hosts. It exposes TCP-related configuration such as window size and send-ahead settings, X.25 call/link state objects, and interface-level statistics including CPU usage stats and 10BaseT link duplex/status. This is a hardware and OS/network-software health MIB: administrators can track aiXirbCpuStatsCurrent and aiXirbCpuStatsMax to monitor CPU load on the AIX host, check aiXirbBx25LinkUp for legacy WAN link availability, and confirm 10BaseT Ethernet interface duplex settings and status. It is IBM's proprietary AIX enterprise MIB extension, built as a sibling to AIX1-MIB, and complements standard IF-MIB interface counters. It is typically deployed on IBM AIX Unix servers that use IRB, legacy X.25 links, or 10BaseT Ethernet interfaces, in enterprise data center environments. Engineers can download the AIXIRB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AIXIRB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Applied Innovation XIRB remote access/terminal server platform

Monitoring Examples

An admin polling aiXirbCpuStatsCurrent against aiXirbCpuStatsMax and aiXirbCpuStatsReset would track current CPU load relative to its historical peak on the AIX host, while aiXirbBx25LinkUp indicates whether a legacy X.25 WAN link is up. A duplex mismatch surfaced through aiXirb10BaseTDuplex alongside degraded throughput on aiXirbPpc10BaseT would point to an Ethernet auto-negotiation problem on that interface.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CPU usage current/max/reset stats
  • X.25 (BX.25) link up/down state
  • TCP window size and send-ahead settings
  • 10BaseT interface duplex and status
