Last Updated: 2003-04-22

Category: Fibre Channel and Storage, SNMP Framework

Description: Defines the second-generation ADTX enterprise SMI OID structure for Areca RAID controller MIB module registration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ADTX-SMI-S2?

ADTX-SMI-S2 is the second-generation Structure-of-Management-Information (SMI) module for the ADTX enterprise, registering the OID branch used by Areca RAID controller MIB modules. It does not itself define any monitorable objects; instead it establishes the enterprise registration tree (adtxReg, adtxGeneric, adtxProducts, adtxExpr) under which the actual Areca RAID monitoring MIBs are rooted. As a pure OID-registration module it exposes no interface, environmental, or performance data of its own, so it has no direct monitoring use on its own. It underpins the real Areca RAID controller MIBs (disk/array status, controller health, etc.) registered beneath it, functioning as a private-enterprise numbering convention rather than a standards-based MIB. It is typically loaded as a support/dependency MIB alongside the vendor's actual RAID management MIB when managing Areca storage controllers. Engineers can download the ADTX-SMI-S2 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTX-SMI-S2. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Areca RAID storage controller

Monitoring Examples

This module is a conformance/registration-only SMI definition -- it defines the OID tree (adtxReg, adtxProducts, adtxExpr, avc) used to number other Areca RAID MIB objects, but contains no runtime data objects of its own, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe.
