This option enables a security handshake where the originating unit sends a passcode and the answering unit verifies it before accepting the dial backup connection as valid. You enable this when your dial backup line crosses an untrusted network or when you want to prevent unauthorized units from connecting. When enabled, an attacker cannot spoof dial backup by knowing only the phone number—they also need the correct passcode.
