adsl2SCStatusGainAlloc
Module: ADSL2-LINE-MIB
OID (symbolic): ADSL2-LINE-MIB::adsl2SCStatusGainAlloc
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.238.1.2.2.1.5
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: OCTET STRING
Access: read-only
Description: The gain allocation per sub-carrier. An array of 512 16-bits values, designed for supporting up to 512 (downstream) sub- carriers. The number of utilized octets on downstream direction depends on NSCds, and on upstream direction it depends on NSCus. This value is referred to here as NSC. Value i (0 <= i < NSC) is in the range 0 to 4093 to indicate that the respective downstream or upstream sub-carrier i has the same amount of gain value. The gain value is represented as a multiple of 1/512 on a linear scale. Each value in this array is 16 bits wide and is stored in big endian format.
What is adsl2SCStatusGainAlloc?
This OID is a 16-bit-per-subcarrier array storing gain/power adjustment values (0–4093 range) applied to each carrier to compensate for line attenuation. Engineers use this to understand power distribution across frequencies and to detect where the line is severely attenuated (high gain needed) or damaged (gain maxed out). A carrier at gain value 2000 needs significant power boost to overcome attenuation; one at 100 needs minimal boost.
