Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: Downstream SNR Margin is the maximum increase in dB of the noise power received at the ATU-R, such that the BER requirements are met for all downstream bearer channels. It ranges from -640 to 630 units of 0.1 dB (physical values are -64 to 63 dB). A special value of 0x7FFFFFFF (2147483647) indicates the SNR Margin is out of range to be represented. A special value of 0x7FFFFFFE (2147483646) indicates the SNR Margin measurement is currently unavailable.

What is adsl2LineStatusSnrMarginDs?

This read-only OID reports the downstream noise margin in dB, ranging from −640 to 630 (−64 to 63 dB physical), representing how much additional noise the line can tolerate before errors appear. Technicians monitor this to forecast line stability: positive high margins (above 50) indicate robust connections, while low or negative margins mean the line will retrain or drop soon. For example, a margin of 60 (6 dB) is healthy; a value of −50 (−5 dB) warns that the line is about to lose sync and retrain.
