Module: ADSL2-LINE-MIB

OID (symbolic): ADSL2-LINE-MIB::adsl2LineStatusLnAttenDs

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.238.1.1.1.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-only

Description: The measured difference in the total power transmitted by the ATU-C and the total power received by the ATU-R over all sub- carriers during diagnostics mode and initialization. It ranges from 0 to 1270 units of 0.1 dB (physical values are 0 to 127 dB). A special value of 0x7FFFFFFF (2147483647) indicates the line attenuation is out of range to be represented. A special value of 0x7FFFFFFE (2147483646) indicates the line attenuation measurement is currently unavailable.

What is adsl2LineStatusLnAttenDs?

This read-only OID reports the total signal loss measured from the DSL headend to the customer modem in units of 0.1 dB, ranging from 0–1270 (0–127 dB physical). Field technicians use this to assess line quality: high attenuation typically means the customer is far from the central office or the cable is degraded, limiting achievable speed. For example, a value of 640 means 64 dB attenuation; if it exceeds 1200 (120 dB), the customer is likely too distant for reliable high-speed service.
