Module: ADSL2-LINE-MIB

OID (symbolic): ADSL2-LINE-MIB::adsl2ChConfProfMaxBerDs

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.238.1.5.2.1.1.13

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Adsl2MaxBer

Access: read-create

Description: Maximum Bit Error Ratio on Downstream direction. The maximum bit error ratio for the bearer channel. The parameter can take the following values (for 1E-3, 1E-5 or 1E-7): eminus3(1), eminus5(2), or eminus7(3).

What is adsl2ChConfProfMaxBerDs?

This OID defines the maximum acceptable bit error ratio (how many corrupted bits per billion bits) for downstream data before alerting you to quality problems. Network engineers use this to enforce acceptable quality standards—a home connection might tolerate 1 error per 100,000 bits, while a business line tolerates only 1 per 10 million bits. A value of 'eminus5' (10^-5) means you want at least 99.999% of downloaded bits to arrive correctly before triggering an alarm.
