paTrapThresholds

Module: ADIC-SANMGR-PROXY-MIB

OID (symbolic): ADIC-SANMGR-PROXY-MIB::paTrapThresholds

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3764.1.1.400.10.10.2.1.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: Each of 255 event types has an 8-bit threshold. When the number of events exceeds the Trap Threshold, a trap is generated and sent to all parties listed in the trap destination table (also under SNMP control) . Threshold 0 means Never Threshold 1 means Always Threshold 2 - 255 means Number of events per 10 minute period

What is paTrapThresholds?

This OID is a 256-byte string where each byte sets a threshold for one of 255 event types; when event occurrences exceed the threshold, an SNMP trap alert is sent to all configured trap destinations. Network engineers configure this to avoid alert fatigue by suppressing repeated minor events but immediately notifying on significant issues. For example, setting byte 30 to 5 means after 5 occurrences of event type 30 within a 10-minute window, the system sends a trap; setting byte 10 to 1 means every single occurrence of event type 10 triggers an immediate trap.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.3764.1.1.400.10.10.2.1.1.8
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ADIC-SANMGR-PROXY-MIB::paTrapThresholds

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.3764.1.1.400.10.10.2.1.1.8.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ADIC-SANMGR-PROXY-MIB::paTrapThresholds.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.3764.1.1.400.10.10.2.1.1.8.1 s <value>
