Description: Enables the Simplified Message Desk Interface (SMDI). SMDI defines a method whereby telephony systems can provide voice-messaging systems with data required by those telephony systems to process incoming calls intelligently. Whenever the phone system routes a call, it sends an SMDI message through an EIA/TIA-232 connection to the voice-messaging system that tells it the line that it is using, the type of call that it is forwarding, and information about the source and destination of the call. 0 = Normal Serial 1 = Serial SMDI. Access: Offline. AC INI-Param: SMDI

What is vmSMDIEnable?

This integer OID enables or disables the Simplified Message Desk Interface (SMDI), a protocol allowing the PBX to share call-routing details with the voice-messaging system over a serial connection. Activating SMDI improves intelligent call handling by providing the voicemail system with caller information and destination context. Setting this to enabled (value 1) allows real-time integration between the PBX and voicemail platform.
