What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-VOSIP-MIB?

A3COM-HUAWEI-VOSIP-MIB is an H3C/3Com vendor MIB for managing SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) client configuration on H3C/3Com voice gateways, covering SIP server addresses, registration settings, and SIP dial-peer configuration as stated in its module description. It primarily exposes configuration objects for establishing and maintaining SIP-based multimedia sessions (IP telephony, conferencing) rather than runtime performance counters. Its monitoring relevance is largely in confirming SIP client/registration configuration status, e.g., whether the gateway is correctly registered with its configured SIP server, which functions as a software/service-status check for the VoIP signaling stack. It is a vendor-specific management layer built on top of the standard SIP protocol, per its description referencing SIP as an application-layer control protocol, though it is not shown depending on other SNMP standards MIBs. It's deployed on H3C/3Com voice gateways used for SIP-based IP telephony and multimedia session establishment. Engineers can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-VOSIP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-VOSIP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/3Com SIP voice gateway

Monitoring Examples

No concrete object or table names were provided for this module, so specific OIDs cannot be cited; based on its stated scope, a realistic use would be reading back SIP server address and registration configuration objects to confirm the gateway is correctly registered, and checking SIP dial-peer configuration to verify call-routing rules are as expected. Confirming exact object names would require the underlying MIB source.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SIP server address configuration
  • SIP registration status/settings
  • SIP dial-peer configuration

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using h3cSIPMsgSend OID:

Select an H3C/3Com SIP voice gateway as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type h3cSIPMsgSend into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The number of messages which a SIP gateway has sent. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
