Category: Network Interfaces, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages the H3C Device Link Detection Protocol (DLDP), monitoring unidirectional link status and port states.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-DLDP-MIB?

A3COM-HUAWEI-DLDP-MIB (labeled internally with h3c object prefixes) manages the Device Link Detection Protocol on H3C/3Com-Huawei switches, a protocol used to detect unidirectional (one-way) link failures that standard link-state detection misses. It exposes DLDP operating mode, global enable state, detection interval, authentication settings, and per-port DLDP state and configuration tables. This is fundamentally a link/port health monitoring MIB: it lets an operator watch h3cDLDPPortState to see whether a port has been shut down due to a detected unidirectional link fault, which is a software-driven protective action taken by the switch to prevent loops or blackholed traffic. It is a vendor-specific extension in the shared 3Com/Huawei/H3C enterprise MIB tree and typically works alongside spanning-tree and interface MIBs (IF-MIB) for full port status context. It is deployed on H3C/3Com Ethernet switches in campus and data center networks using fiber links where unidirectional failures are a known risk. Engineers can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-DLDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-DLDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C Ethernet switches
  • 3Com/Huawei enterprise switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll h3cDLDPPortStateTable/h3cDLDPPortStateEntry to check h3cDLDPPortState on fiber-connected switch ports, watching for a transition to a shutdown or unidirectional-fault state that indicates one side of a link has stopped receiving traffic. Cross-checking h3cDLDPSystemEnable and h3cDLDPInterval confirms whether DLDP detection is active and how frequently probes run, while h3cDLDPUnidirectionalShutdown shows whether the port was automatically disabled in response to a fault.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DLDP global enable state
  • per-port DLDP link state
  • unidirectional link fault detection
  • port auto-shutdown status
  • detection interval configuration
