Category: Network Interfaces, Vendor: H3C/HH3C
Description: Provides enhanced Device Link Detection Protocol (DLDP v2) configuration and link-state objects on H3C devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-DLDP2-MIB?
A3COM-HUAWEI-DLDP2-MIB defines the second version of H3C/3Com's Device Link Detection Protocol, a private Layer 2 protocol used to detect and automatically shut down unidirectional fiber or copper links before they cause loops or blackholes. It exposes global and per-port DLDP configuration (enable state, detection interval, authentication mode/password, unidirectional-shutdown behavior) alongside per-port operational and link status tables. Its core monitoring value is software/link-health status: an operator can see whether DLDP is enabled and functioning per port, and whether a port has been placed into a shutdown state due to a detected unidirectional condition. It is a vendor-private Layer 2 protocol MIB with no direct standards dependency, though it works alongside standard interface (IF-MIB) status objects for full port-state context. It is deployed on H3C/3Com switches interconnected by fiber trunks or long copper runs where single-fiber failures are a known risk. Engineers can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-DLDP2-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-DLDP2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C/3Com Layer 2 switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator walks h3cDldp2PortStatusTable/h3cDldp2PortStatusEntry to read h3cDldp2PortOperStatus and h3cDldp2PortLinkStatus, revealing a port that DLDP has forced down because it detected a unidirectional link, even though the physical link light is still up. Comparing this against h3cDldp2PortConfigTable's h3cDldp2PortEnable confirms detection was actually active on that port. Global settings like h3cDldp2Interval and h3cDldp2AuthMode/h3cDldp2AuthPassword are checked to ensure detection timing and authenticated DLDPDU exchange are configured consistently across a fiber-linked switch pair.
What Can Be Monitored
- DLDP global enable state
- per-port DLDP enable state
- unidirectional link detection status
- port operational status
- port link (shutdown) status
- detection interval and authentication settings
