Description: Manages ZyXEL policy-based routing rules for directing traffic based on source, destination, or protocol criteria.

What Is ZYXEL-POLICY-ROUTE-MIB?

ZYXEL-POLICY-ROUTE-MIB is a ZyXEL Communications enterprise MIB that manages policy-based routing profiles and rules on ZyXEL enterprise switches, letting traffic be steered to a specific next hop based on criteria other than the destination-based routing table. The zyxelPolicyRouteProfileTable defines named profiles with an EnabledStatus flag (zyPolicyRouteProfileState) and RowStatus-controlled lifecycle, while the zyxelPolicyRouteTable holds the ordered rules within a profile, each identified by zyPolicyRouteSequence (1-64, evaluated in order) and carrying a permit/deny zyPolicyRouteStatement, a zyPolicyRouteCalssifier reference, and a zyPolicyRouteNextHop IP address. Because rules are evaluated strictly in sequence and a deny falls back to normal table-based routing, this is fundamentally a configuration/classification MIB rather than a traffic-counter MIB, and monitoring it is mainly about confirming which profiles/rules are active and correctly ordered. It depends on the P-BRIDGE-MIB for its EnabledStatus textual convention and the ZYXEL-ES-SMI enterprise tree for OID placement, and it is deployed on ZyXEL managed switches, and administrators can download the ZYXEL-POLICY-ROUTE-MIB MIB to audit or automate policy-route configuration.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-POLICY-ROUTE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZyXEL enterprise switches (ES/GS series)

Monitoring Examples

An operator walks zyxelPolicyRouteTable ordered by zyPolicyRouteSequence to confirm rule 1 through N still point traffic at the expected zyPolicyRouteNextHop, and checks zyPolicyRouteProfileState and zyPolicyRouteRowStatus; a profile left disabled or a rule with an unreachable next hop would silently fall traffic back to default routing instead of the intended path.

What Can Be Monitored

  • policy-route profile enable/disable state
  • policy rule sequence and permit/deny statement
  • rule next-hop IP address
  • row/profile creation-deletion status
  • maximum profile/rule counts
