Category: ZyXEL VLAN Management

Description: Manages ZyXEL legacy private VLAN configuration for port isolation in older switch firmware versions.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZYXEL-LEGACY-PRIVATE-VLAN-MIB?

This is a ZyXEL private MIB for an older, legacy implementation of private VLAN port isolation, used on earlier ZyXEL switch firmware to keep designated ports from communicating with each other while still sharing an uplink. It exposes configuration data describing which ports are grouped into isolated relationships. Its monitoring value is mostly configuration verification rather than hardware/software health: confirming which ports are isolated lets an admin validate that the intended traffic-separation policy is actually in effect. It sits alongside the standard bridge/VLAN objects (Q-BRIDGE-MIB) rather than replacing them, since private VLAN isolation is layered on top of standard VLAN membership. It was deployed on older ZyXEL switches in small-business and SOHO environments needing simple port isolation without provisioning a full VLAN per port, and administrators can consult the ZYXEL-LEGACY-PRIVATE-VLAN-MIB MIB definition when auditing these legacy configurations.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-LEGACY-PRIVATE-VLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZyXEL switch (legacy firmware)

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were provided for this MIB, so specific identifiers can't be cited here. Conceptually, an admin would poll the private-VLAN port isolation membership per port to confirm which ports are configured as isolated from one another, and an unexpected membership entry would reveal a misconfiguration allowing two ports to communicate when they should be kept separate.

What Can Be Monitored

  • private VLAN port isolation membership
  • port isolation configuration state
