Category: ZyXEL Security and Access Control

Description: Manages ZyXEL port isolation to restrict Layer 2 forwarding between ports on the same switch.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZYXEL-PORT-ISOLATION-MIB?

ZYXEL-PORT-ISOLATION-MIB is a ZyXEL private enterprise MIB implementing port isolation, restricting Layer 2 forwarding between specified ports on the same switch. It exposes port isolation group/membership configuration controlling which ports may or may not forward traffic to each other. Monitoring verifies the isolation policy's current state, confirming which ports are isolated from which, a security-configuration status check rather than a hardware health check. It builds on the standard bridge forwarding model from BRIDGE-MIB, adding a ZyXEL-specific isolation feature layered on top. It is deployed on ZyXEL access switches in multi-tenant or guest-network scenarios where ports must be prevented from communicating directly with each other. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ZYXEL-PORT-ISOLATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-PORT-ISOLATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZyXEL managed switch

Monitoring Examples

No object/table names were present in the sampled data. Per the module description ("the subtree for port isolation"), the module exposes per-port isolation group membership that an administrator checks to confirm isolated ports are still prevented from forwarding traffic to one another as configured.

What Can Be Monitored

  • port isolation group membership
  • isolated port list
