Description: Manages ZTE access node Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS/G.8032) configuration and ring status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ZTE-AN-ERPS-MIB?
ZTE-AN-ERPS-MIB is a ZTE private MIB for access-node equipment implementing Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS, ITU-T G.8032), a protocol that provides sub-50ms failover for Ethernet rings by blocking one link to prevent loops and quickly rerouting traffic on failure. It exposes configuration objects for defining rings, ring ports, and protection parameters, along with operational status reflecting the current state of the ring (e.g. which link is blocked, whether a failure/switchover has occurred). Its monitoring value is centered on the software/protocol status of ring protection -- confirming the ring is in its normal idle state with the expected link blocked, or detecting that a protection switchover has occurred due to a link or node failure -- which is critical for Ethernet ring resiliency in metro access networks. It depends on the standard ITU-T G.8032 ERPS protocol model, which the MIB's object structure follows even though implemented as a ZTE proprietary module. It is deployed on ZTE access-node (AN) switches used in metro Ethernet ring topologies for carrier access networks. Engineers can download the ZTE-AN-ERPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZTE-AN-ERPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ZTE access-node (AN) Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
No specific object names were provided (sample_objects is empty), but consistent with its description an administrator would poll the ring status objects for a configured ERPS ring to confirm which ring port is currently in the blocking (RPL) state during normal operation, and would watch for a transition to a protection-switching state -- indicating a break in the ring -- as well as any related restoration once the failed link/node recovers.
What Can Be Monitored
- ERPS ring configuration
- ring port blocking/forwarding state
- protection-switching status
- ring failure/restoration events
