natUdpTimeout

Module: ZHONE-COM-IP-ZEDGE-NAT-MIB

OID (symbolic): ZHONE-COM-IP-ZEDGE-NAT-MIB::natUdpTimeout

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5504.4.1.16.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The number of seconds before an idle UDP connection will be removed. The default value is 60 seconds. The maximum is one week. Zero is a valid value that will cause the connection to timeout very quickly.

What is natUdpTimeout?

This object sets the number of seconds an idle UDP connection is tracked before its NAT binding is removed, defaulting to 60 seconds with a maximum of one week; a value of zero causes near-immediate timeout. An admin tunes this because UDP has no explicit close, so this timeout is the only way the NAT table reclaims stale UDP bindings such as old VoIP or DNS sessions. For example, an admin might raise this above the 60-second default to keep NAT bindings alive longer for an application that sends UDP keepalives less frequently than once a minute.
