Module: XEDIA-IP-MIB
OID (symbolic): XEDIA-IP-MIB::xipFwdDirectedBroadcast
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.838.3.4.1.6.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: The administrative status for forwarding directed broadcasts. A value of 'enabled(1)' allows directed broadcasts to be forwarded on all interfaces while 'disabled(2)' disables the forwarding of directed broadcasts on all interfaces in the box.
What is xipFwdDirectedBroadcast?
Enables or disables (disabled by default) forwarding of directed broadcasts across all interfaces on the device; enabling it lets packets addressed to a remote subnet's broadcast address be forwarded onto that subnet, a behavior often left disabled for security, such as to prevent Smurf-style amplification attacks.
