wfWepCircuitTekChangeByte
Module: Wellfleet-WEP-MIB
OID (symbolic): Wellfleet-WEP-MIB::wfWepCircuitTekChangeByte
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.4.28.2.1.5
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: Frequency of traffic encryption key change, based upon number of bytes encrypted; in operation, this is effectively rounded up to the next full packet. Note that the key change rate is also influenced by time. The so-called 'best' value will be dependent upon the algorithms that use the TEK; also, for a given algorithm the 'best' value will change over time due to the progresses made in cryptanalysis. The strongest value of this or the corresponding line setting will be used.
What is wfWepCircuitTekChangeByte?
This sets how often the traffic encryption key rotates based on bytes encrypted on this circuit (256 to 2147483647), defaulting to 65535; the effective rate used is the strongest of this and the corresponding line setting. Admins lower this to force more frequent key rotation on a circuit carrying especially sensitive traffic, overriding a laxer line-level default.
