Description: Controls the interpretation of the MTU field in the database description packet header. Per RFC 2178 the MTU indicates the largest size IP packet that an OSPF interface can receive. If the MTU is greater than that which the interface can receive the packet is ignored and thus, an adjacency is not formed. In RFC 1583 this field does not exist. The value 'enabled' denotes RFC 2178 processing of the MTU field. The value 'disabled' denotes RFC 1583 processing.
What is wfOspfIfMtuMismatchDetect?
Controls whether this interface enforces RFC 2178's rule of rejecting Database Description packets that advertise an MTU larger than what the interface can receive (enabled), or ignores the MTU field entirely per the older RFC 1583 behavior (disabled), which doesn't define that field. Admins disable this as a compatibility workaround when an adjacency won't form due to an MTU field mismatch with an older or misconfigured neighbor, though the safer fix is correcting the actual MTU.
