wfFDDIMacTReq

Module: Wellfleet-FDDI-MIB

OID (symbolic): Wellfleet-FDDI-MIB::wfFDDIMacTReq

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.4.4.1.32

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Specifies the maximum time value of 'wfFddiPathMaxTReq' that shall be used by any MAC that is configured in this path. The operational value of 'wfFddiPathMaxTReq' is managed by setting this attribute. This attribute has the time value range of:

wfFddiPathTvxLowerBound < wfFddiMacTReq <= wfFddiPathTMaxLowerBound.

Time specified in octet units. The default value of this attribute is 165 msec. The name of this attribute in the IETF MIB is FddiMibPATHMaxTReq.

To convert 165 milliseconds to octet units of 80 nanaseconds:

T_Req Nanaoseconds = ((165 * 1000 * 1000) / 80) = 2062500

To convert 2062500 octet units of 80 nanoseconds to milliseconds:

T_Req Milliseconds = ((2062500 / 12.5) / 1000) = 165

What is wfFDDIMacTReq?

Sets the maximum Target Token Rotation Time this MAC will request, expressed in 80-nanosecond octet units (default 2062500, equal to 165 ms), the same parameter the IETF FDDI MIB calls PATHMaxTReq; an admin tunes it, within the bounds of wfFddiPathTvxLowerBound and wfFddiPathTMaxLowerBound, to control how aggressively the MAC negotiates ring bandwidth.
