wfFDDIForcePeerTree

Module: Wellfleet-FDDI-MIB

OID (symbolic): Wellfleet-FDDI-MIB::wfFDDIForcePeerTree

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.4.4.1.45

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This attribute allows all FDDI Peer/Tree connections to reach the 'Thru' state. This is done to give the user some flexibility and allow them to Daisy Chain their Phy connections, mixing Tree & Peer connections. This type of daisy chaining DOES NOT conform to the SMT standard and is NOT recommended as it may result in a less than optimum token path. Normally when we have a Peer/Tree connection mix, we will wrap the connection, favoring PHY B.

What is wfFDDIForcePeerTree?

When enabled, forces all FDDI Peer/Tree PHY connections on this station to reach the 'Thru' state, letting an admin daisy-chain mixed Tree and Peer connections; the vendor's own description flags this as non-compliant with the SMT standard and not recommended since it can produce a suboptimal token path - normally a mixed Peer/Tree connection instead wraps, favoring PHY B.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.4.4.1.45
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> Wellfleet-FDDI-MIB::wfFDDIForcePeerTree

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.4.4.1.45.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> Wellfleet-FDDI-MIB::wfFDDIForcePeerTree.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.4.4.1.45.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> wfFDDIForcePeerTree.1
