Module: WLSX-POE-MIB

OID (symbolic): WLSX-POE-MIB::wlsxPsePortDiscoveryMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.14823.2.2.1.18.1.1.1.5

Description: This object indicates the method of discovery used by the system for the detection of the Powered Device(PD).

A value of unknown(0) means that the discovery method is unknown on this port.

A value of off(1) means that the discovery method is turned off on this port.

A value of ieee(2) indicates that the discovery method is IEEE based on this port.

A value of cisco(3) indicates that the discovery method is Cisco based on this port.

What is wlsxPsePortDiscoveryMode?

This value indicates which detection method the switch uses to discover a Powered Device on this port: off(1) means detection is disabled, ieee(2) means standard IEEE 802.3af detection, and cisco(3) means Cisco's proprietary pre-standard detection scheme. An admin sets or checks this when a non-IEEE-compliant legacy device (like an older Cisco phone) fails to get powered under standard detection. For example, switching this to cisco(3) may be needed to power a legacy Cisco IP phone that doesn't respond to IEEE discovery.
