logGenericTrap

Module: WESTERN-MULTIPLEX-MIB

OID (symbolic): WESTERN-MULTIPLEX-MIB::logGenericTrap

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3727.20.10.4.0.1

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description: This trap is generated by the SNMP Agent when the logging subsytem has added a system event that does not have a specific trap associated with it, and 'logTrapSeverityFilter', and 'logTrapHysteresis' enable the sending of this trap. The row/column variables included in the trap are: nmu.trap.trapSequenceNumber; system.log.logRecTable.logRecIndexNumber; system.log.logRecTable.logRecSeverity; system.log.logRecTable.logRecEvent; system.log.logRecTable.logRecDescription.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' WESTERN-MULTIPLEX-MIB::logGenericTrap
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.3727.20.10.4.0.1

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:60554->[192.168.30.10]:162]:
  DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (123639434) 14 days, 7:26:34.34
  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: WESTERN-MULTIPLEX-MIB::logGenericTrap
