What Is WAYSTREAM-COPY-MIB?

WAYSTREAM-COPY-MIB is a Waystream AB module describing the file copy/mirroring functions available on Waystream ASR (Access Service Router) devices, used to copy configuration or software files between locations (e.g., for backup, firmware staging, or traffic mirroring for analysis). It exposes a table of copy jobs including their source, destination, and current state. Its monitoring role is centered on software/operational status: tracking whether a file copy job (such as a firmware or configuration transfer) is running, has completed, or has failed, which is directly relevant to confirming successful software/configuration deployment on the router. No specific dependency on other MIBs is apparent from the module description. It is deployed on Waystream ASR routers in carrier or enterprise access networks where remote firmware/config management is performed via SNMP. Engineers can download the WAYSTREAM-COPY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WAYSTREAM-COPY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • copy job source/destination
  • copy operation status
  • copy job state transitions
  • copy error status

Supported Devices

  • Waystream ASR (Access Service Router)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll wsCopyTable/wsCopyEntry rows indexed by wsCopyIndex to see wsCopySource and wsCopyDestination for an in-progress transfer, checking wsCopyStatus and wsCopyNextState to confirm the copy operation's current phase. A non-zero or error value in wsCopyError alongside a stalled wsCopyStatus would indicate a failed firmware or configuration copy that needs to be retried.
