vdsAddrSelHost1Mask

Module: VDS-MIB

OID (symbolic): VDS-MIB::vdsAddrSelHost1Mask

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.99999.64.1.2.2.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-create

Description: This object identifies a mask that may be applied during network address packet selection. It is used differently, depending on the value of the associated vdsAddrSelType object. It must be a well-formed address mask, according to the encoding rules defined for the network protocol for this entry (identified by the vdsAddrSelNetProtoID and vdsAddrSelNetProtoParms objects).

If this object is smaller in length than the vdsAddrSelHost1Addr object, then this object shall be conceptually extended with 'one' bits. If this object is larger in length than the vdsAddrSelHost1Addr object, then the extra bits in this object shall be ignored during packet processing on behalf of this entry.

Refer to the vdsAddrSelHost1Addr description clause for more details pertaining to this object.

This object may not be modified if the associated vdsAddrSelStatus object is equal to active(1).

What is vdsAddrSelHost1Mask?

The bitmask applied to vdsAddrSelHost1Addr and to each packet's source/destination address before comparing them, letting an admin match a whole subnet, e.g. 255.255.255.0, rather than a single host address.
