usdSonetMediumTimingSource

Module: Unisphere-Data-SONET-MIB

OID (symbolic): Unisphere-Data-SONET-MIB::usdSonetMediumTimingSource

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.7.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Selects the source from which transmit timing is derived. loop(0) indicates timing is recovered from the receiver; internalModule(1) indicates timing is from the module associated with this interface; internalChassis(3) indicates timing is taken from the internal system timing reference.

What is usdSonetMediumTimingSource?

Sets where this SONET/SDH interface derives its transmit clock from: loop(0) recovers timing from the received signal, internalModule(1) uses the local module's clock, or internalChassis(2) uses the chassis-wide timing reference. Get this wrong across a network and you risk clock slips; typically only one device in a SONET ring should be the primary timing source with others set to loop or a traceable reference.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.7.1.1.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> Unisphere-Data-SONET-MIB::usdSonetMediumTimingSource

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.7.1.1.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> Unisphere-Data-SONET-MIB::usdSonetMediumTimingSource.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.7.1.1.1.3.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> usdSonetMediumTimingSource.1
