Category: CommWorks/3Com Access Equipment

Description: Manages IP interface addresses, routing parameters, and forwarding configuration on CommWorks/3Com equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is USR-IP-CFG-MIB?

USR-IP-CFG-MIB is a CommWorks (a 3Com company, formerly U.S. Robotics' carrier-access division) proprietary MIB configuring per-network IP routing behavior on commWorks access-server platforms. Its network-configuration table, keyed by network name, records broadcast address, reassembly max size, active routing protocol (none/RIPv1/RIPv2/OSPF), and a set of RIP-specific policy toggles — send-default-route, send-routes, send-subnets-only, accept-default-route, silent mode, split-horizon, poison-reverse, flash-update, simple authentication (with key), and RIPv1-compatibility/receive-version controls — plus routing metric and export metric. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator audit which RIP policy toggles are active on a given interface, particularly useful when diagnosing route-advertisement inconsistencies. It is deployed on commWorks (3Com) access-server platforms. Engineers can download the USR-IP-CFG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in USR-IP-CFG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • CommWorks (3Com) access-server platforms

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks usrIpCfgNetSplitHorizonPolicy and usrIpCfgNetPoisonReversePolicy to confirm RIP loop-prevention settings match the network design before troubleshooting a routing loop.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-network IP routing protocol and RIP policy configuration
