udpliteOutPartialCov

Module: UDPLITE-MIB

OID (symbolic): UDPLITE-MIB::udpliteOutPartialCov

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.170.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description: The total number of udpliteOutDatagrams whose checksum coverage was strictly less than the datagram length. Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialisation of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of udpliteStatsDiscontinuityTime.

What is udpliteOutPartialCov?

Counts how many of this device's outgoing UDP-Lite datagrams (udpliteOutDatagrams) had a checksum coverage strictly less than the full datagram length. Admins compare this against udpliteOutDatagrams to confirm the local sending application is actually using UDP-Lite's partial-checksum feature rather than sending fully-covered datagrams that behave like plain UDP. If udpliteOutPartialCov stays at zero despite udpliteOutDatagrams being nonzero, an admin would know the local application isn't configuring partial checksum coverage even though it's using the UDP-Lite protocol.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.170.1.7
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> UDPLITE-MIB::udpliteOutPartialCov

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.170.1.7.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> UDPLITE-MIB::udpliteOutPartialCov.1
