udpliteInPartialCov

Module: UDPLITE-MIB

OID (symbolic): UDPLITE-MIB::udpliteInPartialCov

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.170.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description: The total number of UDP-Lite datagrams that were delivered to UDP-Lite users (applications) and whose checksum coverage was strictly less than the datagram length. Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialisation of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of udpliteStatsDiscontinuityTime.

What is udpliteInPartialCov?

Counts how many of the delivered UDP-Lite datagrams had a checksum coverage strictly less than the full datagram length - i.e. used UDP-Lite's partial-checksum feature. Admins compare this against udpliteInDatagrams to see how much incoming traffic is actually exploiting UDP-Lite's defining feature of partial error-checking, versus behaving like ordinary fully-checksummed UDP. A udpliteInPartialCov close to zero even though udpliteInDatagrams is high would tell an admin that senders aren't actually using partial checksum coverage, despite using the UDP-Lite protocol.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.170.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> UDPLITE-MIB::udpliteInPartialCov

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.170.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> UDPLITE-MIB::udpliteInPartialCov.1
