udpliteEndpointViolCoverage

Module: UDPLITE-MIB

OID (symbolic): UDPLITE-MIB::udpliteEndpointViolCoverage

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.170.1.8.1.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The number of datagrams received by this endpoint whose checksum coverage violated the minimum coverage threshold set for this connection (i.e., all valid datagrams whose checksum coverage was strictly smaller than the minimum, as defined in RFC 3828). Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialisation of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of udpliteStatsDiscontinuityTime.

What is udpliteEndpointViolCoverage?

Counts datagrams received by this endpoint whose checksum coverage was strictly smaller than the endpoint's configured minimum coverage threshold, and so violated it. Admins watch this to spot senders that aren't respecting the receiver's minimum coverage requirement, which would indicate a misconfigured or misbehaving remote application. A rising udpliteEndpointViolCoverage count for a media-streaming endpoint would suggest a remote sender is transmitting datagrams with less checksum coverage than this endpoint requires, causing them to be rejected.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.170.1.8.1.10
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> UDPLITE-MIB::udpliteEndpointViolCoverage

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.170.1.8.1.10.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> UDPLITE-MIB::udpliteEndpointViolCoverage.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> udpliteEndpointViolCoverage.1
