What Is UB-INTERNETWORKING-MIB?

UB-INTERNETWORKING-MIB is a vendor-specific enterprise module for UB Networks (Ungermann-Bass), a legacy internetworking equipment vendor, defining the top-level object identifier structure for its routing and bridging product lines. It exposes an organizational hierarchy of managed nodes and equipment types, including RISC-based FDDI, MPET, and Token Ring brouter product families, under which more detailed configuration and statistics objects would be defined. Its role in hardware/software status monitoring is largely structural: as a base enterprise MIB it establishes identity nodes (ubNode, ubEquip) that downstream, product-specific MIB branches use to expose actual interface, performance, and routing-protocol counters for these legacy brouters. No specific dependency on other standard MIBs is evident beyond the standard SNMP enterprise (mgmt) OID tree it registers under. A network operator managing legacy UB Networks equipment would reference the ubNode and ubEquip identity branches to determine device and hardware module identity, and then navigate into product-specific branches like ubRISCFddiBrouter or ubRISCTokenRing to find the actual interface and routing statistics for that hardware type. Because this MIB is primarily a naming/identity tree, an unexpected or missing branch under ubEquip for an installed card would indicate an unsupported or unrecognized hardware module. The listed sample object 'mgmt,' reflects that this module roots its object tree under the standard SNMP mgmt subtree.
