What Is TUBS-PROC-MIB?
TUBS-PROC-MIB is an experimental MIB from TU Braunschweig's IBR institute for monitoring the running processes on a Unix/Linux host. It exposes a process table listing each running process's identifier and command line, along with a reload mechanism to refresh the table. Its monitoring purpose is explicitly software/service status: administrators poll it to confirm that critical daemons or services are alive on the host, similar in spirit to the process table found in the standard HOST-RESOURCES-MIB. It conceptually parallels HOST-RESOURCES-MIB's hrSWRunTable and is part of the same TUBS-IBR experimental series as TUBS-NFS-MIB. It is deployed on Unix/Linux hosts in academic or research network management environments. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the TUBS-PROC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TUBS-PROC-MIB. Monitoring Examples
The procTable/procEntry rows, indexed by procID, list each running process's procCmd. An admin could poll this table to confirm a critical daemon (such as sshd or a monitoring agent) is present in the list, and the absence of an expected procCmd entry, or a procReload that fails to refresh the table, would indicate the process has crashed or the process listing is stale.
