Description: Defines TU Braunschweig Structure of Management Information for IBR research MIB organization.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TUBS-SMI?

TUBS-SMI is the top-level OID registration MIB for the Technical University of Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig), Germany, specifically for its Institute of Operating Systems and Computer Networks (IBR) research MIB tree. It is an academic/research SMI root module rather than a commercial product MIB, establishing the OID namespace under which IBR's research-oriented management modules (e.g., experimental network protocol or sensor MIBs) are registered. As a pure SMI module it defines no runtime objects itself, so it cannot be used to directly monitor hardware or software status. Any research MIBs published by IBR beneath this tree depend on it purely for OID placement within the institution's enterprise branch, so any tool importing IBR's research MIBs must first resolve the TUBS-SMI OID root before compiling the more specific modules registered beneath it. It would only ever appear as an import dependency in IBR's research MIB packages rather than being polled against a live device.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TUBS-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based root registration for TU Braunschweig IBR research MIBs, not tied to a specific commercial device

Monitoring Examples

TUBS-SMI defines only the top-level enterprise OID registration for TU Braunschweig's IBR research group, with no sample objects provided and no OBJECT-TYPE instances of its own, so there is no direct monitoring scenario here.
