What Is TPLINK-LLDPINFO-MIB?

TPLINK-LLDPINFO-MIB is a TP-Link vendor-specific MIB that reports LLDP-discovered neighbor information on managed switches, including remote chassis ID, port ID, system name, and capabilities learned from directly connected devices. Unlike the companion TPLINK-LLDP-MIB, which configures the protocol, this module is read-oriented and delivers live topology/discovery data, effectively reporting on the operational status of neighboring devices' advertisements rather than the local switch's own hardware. It is a key tool for confirming that a port is actually connected to the expected peer device and that LLDP is functioning end-to-end. It depends on an active LLDP session per TPLINK-LLDP-MIB and mirrors the structure of the IEEE 802.1AB standard LLDP remote-systems MIB. It's used on TP-Link managed switches for automated network mapping, cable-plant verification, and IP-phone/AP discovery. An administrator queries the neighbor/remote table on an access port to read the discovered chassis ID and port ID, confirming an IP phone or access point is connected as expected. The reported system name and capabilities fields help distinguish a phone from an unmanaged hub. An empty neighbor entry on a port expected to have a neighbor indicates either a disconnected cable or LLDP disabled on the far end, prompting a check via TPLINK-LLDP-MIB.
