Module: TN-MIRRORING-MIB

OID (symbolic): TN-MIRRORING-MIB::tnMirroringIfMode

Description: The mirroring mode. Valid values are: none(0) : Mirror nothing. onlyTx(10) : Mirror the transmitted frames only. onlyRx(20) : Mirror the received frames only. bothTxRx(30) : Mirror both of transmitted and received frames.

What is tnMirroringIfMode?

This value controls which direction of traffic on a source interface gets mirrored to the group's destination port: none(0) mirrors nothing, onlyTx(10) mirrors only transmitted frames, onlyRx(20) mirrors only received frames, and bothTxRx(30) mirrors both, per the source's enumerated values. A network administrator sets this depending on what they're troubleshooting, for example mirroring only received traffic to check what's arriving on a suspect uplink without doubling capture volume with outbound traffic too. For example, setting tnMirroringIfMode to onlyRx(20) on a port under investigation captures just the inbound frames for analysis.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.868.2.5.25.1.1.2.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> TN-MIRRORING-MIB::tnMirroringIfMode

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.868.2.5.25.1.1.2.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> TN-MIRRORING-MIB::tnMirroringIfMode.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.868.2.5.25.1.1.2.1.2.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> tnMirroringIfMode.1
